Alex Batkin is a licensed Acupuncturist in the state of New York, board-certified by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM).

Alex has a particular interest in working with people who have digestive concerns, autoimmune conditions, chronic pain, and in using acupuncture to address the bodymind manifestations of stress. He has experience working with athletes, and in treating acute and chronic injuries and orthopedic conditions.

He studied three styles of acupuncture: Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), Kiiko Matsumoto style, and Acupuncture Physical Medicine, based on the myofascial research of Dr. Janet Travell and Dr. Mark Seem. Alex continues to study under Kiiko Matsumoto and with other master practitioners such as Sharon Zhao.

These styles, both independently and in concert, give Alex the tools to address a wide variety of complex internal conditions, musculo-skeletal injuries, and pain.

Before studying acupuncture, Alex received a Masters of Fine Arts in poetry, and wrote his dissertation about the process of fermentation, parts of which have been published in various journals, and as a chapbook. He has taught writing to undergraduate students since 2012.

He has a black belt in Tang Soo Do Mu Duk Kwan and continues to practice kung fu and yoga.
